My mom (we call here Meme) is a rockstar! Ok, not literally, but to me she is an amazing woman with the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. She sucessfully raised 3 ladies and has 2 adorable grandsons. She works tirelessly to make sure that we are all taken care of. Even though her daughters are grown (and in different cities); she makes sure that before bedtime, she sends us a text that says "I love you. Night!" She sends us cards for every occasion and it always says: "When evening draws it's curtains, and pins it with a star, remember that I love you, no matter where you are." I love my Meme!!!!!! :)

Ashley, I LOVE this. Your mom sounds so great, and love that she says good night every night before bedtime. That is too sweet. And that saying is JUST ADORABLE! I've never heard that before. Thank you for sharing, Ashley. I hope you have a wonderful mothers day!! And your Meme too! xo

Now that I'm a mom, I tried to think of things that made growing up so special, so that I can replicate them for my kid(s). Homemade costumes are a must! Every year picking out our Halloween costume patterns and materials was the biggest treat! Then watching my Mom turn fabric into princesses, gypsies, mimes, Scarlett O'Hara (we lived in the South...), strawberries...so much fun! --Nicole n.chilton@gmail.com

Nicole, your mom sounds so magical. And your childhood sounds like the sweetest dream a kid could ever ask for. I didn't know you were from the South!! Where? You seem like you're from the upper East coast. Thanks for sharing your sweet story! And, hope you and Jasper and little one are getting along good! xo and Happy Mothers Day!

Morning! Thanks for letting me know about this great giveaway. Mom LOVES candles. Let's see...she is such a inspiration in my life and has taught me the TRUE meaning of what a strong independent woman is. She is the rock in our family and everything she does is for her family. I recently got married and I told her she is my hero and I hope to one day be half the woman she has been.
I am a follower thru your blog :)

It's funny, because as non-maternal as my mom is, I would be lost as a mother myself without her. She taught me to be myself, stand up for what I believe in, and to never pay retail! One day, I hope to have half the charisma my mom holds.

She is my true inspiration, and my compass in this journey of motherhood.

Happy Mother's Day, Sharon!

My mom always said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." She was a real- life Donna Reed. She never gossiped and she stuck by my dad through thick and thin. Gone but never forgotten...sigh. Btw, I just happened on your blog, and I like your style...and no need to enter me in the candle give-away. It was just nice to see your blog and share a thought about my mom. Thanks!

Rachel, how could you not be anything but AMAZING, having been raised by your mom? I see so much of her in you. I like how you used the word "compass". She is JUST that!! I idolize your mom. She's taught me so much about being a good mom, person, friend and business woman. I feel so lucky to know and have her in my life. I could go on and on, as I'm sure you could too, but loved how you ended it just right...with the retail insanity piece!!! That is too funny!
Saw your adorable little ones last week and couldn't get over how cute they are. Just precious. Hope you had a good getaway and hope you'll have a wonderful Mothers Day.

Elizabeth, Thank you so much for posting such sweet inspirational thoughts on your mom! She sounds like a really good role model, and I love that she didn't venture towards negativity...whether it be criticizing, condemning or complaining. That is one thing that I wish I could be a whole lot better at! I am going to add that to my list of qualities to aspire to!!

By the way, saw that you are an illustrator. I LOVE your work!!

i really think of the way my mom raised me a lot more now that i'm expecting my first little girl! she's taught me so many great things and one of the things that i'll always remember from growing up is that she took time to be with her kids. our special time was after my brothers and sister were asleep and she spent time with just me. i was always a night owl. she went without having a lot of "nice" things to be home with us and that's what i'll do to stay home with my girl. :)
