MOVING HAS BEGUN!

MOVING has begun!  Last week we shuffled a bunch of files from my studio office to the home office, so at the moment, all of my necessities are in three different locations.  {Luckily within a two mile radius and luckily the weather is cooperating charmingly swell-like.}  

I could go on and on about all the things in limbo on the home front at the moment, but will keep it simple and just say...moving can get very ugly.  Currently, AT&T is giving us a run for our money and we still have no wireless connection after calling all of our techie friends and countless hours on the phone with technical support.  I would love to hire someone to specifically make the ever-dreaded and lengthy, elevator-ish-musical calls to AT&T! 

All this to say, I will not be posting as regularly, but will give you something to tide you over with some really awesome guest posts on occasion from designer friends of mine.    The first one will post tomorrow!

IT'S TIME?

Hi everybody.  In trying to update my blog with new buttons and gadgets and bells and whistles last week...I took it upon myself to make some changes to the blog template on my own.  AND I've messed it up, of course.  haha.  So, if you see text running over pics, that's me being a dumb-thumb once again.    I've put a call into my graphic designer, so expect some fun changes for sure by next week.

It's spring break and while I'm still working on client projects for the week, we all took took some time out as a family yesterday to wipe away the renovation dust and take our first batch of things to the new house.  It's starting to feel real, now.  Sylvia brought us over some home made cookies from Mimi's house while we were cleaning.  It sort of felt like a welcoming kiss yesterday.  I've been saying for a while that it doesn't really seem like it's our house, or that it really COULD be our house.  For the first time, it sort of did.

The upstairs floors won't be done for a while, but the basement is done.  One half of the basement will be the teen boys pad, the other half will be my office.   Will built their beds out of fence post lumber we bought at Lowes over the weekend.  

Here's Charlie and I testing out our vintage old-school USA map between their twin beds.  I LOVE old maps and globes.  Decorating with old maps is not a new thing, and it's certainly not a dying thing.  I think it will always be in style.  For any room in the house, really.  What about you?  Do you have old maps that you use in decorating?

Spring In My Step

Hi Guys!  Sorry for the delay in announcing the winner of the Mothers Day giveaway.  The winner is...........Nicole Chilton.  Yay, Nicole!!  AND, Thanks to all of you who signed up for the giveaway and shared sweet little stories about your inspiring moms.  I LOVED hearing all of them!!

So, movin on into spring...The roses are blooming at my house on Pickwick Street, and the sight and smell of them are putting an extra spring in my step. There is also a fresh scent of herbs filling the store at Pickwick House.  By the way, the roses are called Zephrine Drouhin.  A sweet farmers market farmer told me about them years ago.  They are a thorn-free, new/antique hybrid that grow in the shade or sun, bloom all season long, and are maintenance free.  They grow fast too.  

This past week, I needed to have 90 favors ready for a local fundraiser benefitting The Developmental Center of The Ozarks.  I wanted to use something that cost virtually nothing, but that also reflects the unique services and style we offer at the store.  I came up with the idea of using vintage books and stamped them with my logo and then added sprigs of fresh Rosemary.  

I have a set of sweet, sweet vintage-french-reproduction twin headboards in the back storage room.  I haven't brought them out to the floor because they are waiting for the perfect client or customer to put some tender loving care towards them.  If I could, I would cover them in a soft velvet, or creamy linen.

Blooming At Pickwick House

As winter lingers and just keeps a hangin' on, all I do is gravitate to my favorite spring go-to's.  TULIPS.  What types of blossoms make you bloom?

This vignette, here at the store...to me is perfect blend of the two seasons melding together. The focal point of this photo is a champagne bottle from our store's opening.  And the funky elephant tusks are fun anchors.  The fresh orange tulips give-off happy to me.

Pickwick House

COME in to the store for a slice of spring and to see our new spring vignettes.  We have fresh flowers in the house starting at just $6.  Perfect gifts.  Along with many other things here.
