WANT: MANUEL CANOVAS

I wasn't going to post today but just had to pop in to tell you that I want a LOT of stuff.  haha.  Between spring and a call for a  new wardrobe and wanting to fill our new home,  as well as client homes, I've been sourcing so much good stuff.   Especially wallpaper, pattern, and color! Currently working on finishing up a killer little girls room and her french day bed is begging for this duvet below.

It's from the new Manuel Canovas collection.  What a saucy fellow! Unmistakably French in style.  "Associated with the spirit of the 18th century yet re-interpreted with contemporary taste."  I love the unusual color way, the bold accent pink poms, and the soft, antique bed against a muted, mismatched putty-colored wall.

Do you feel the need to refresh for spring too?  Please feel free to call me for an appointment and to see samples of all my wallpapers and fabrics.  Pricing upon request too.

Hope you're having a wonderful "ROBIN in the RAIN kinda day!"

While planning the studio/store, I've been doing some serious going back and forth on decision making on choosing the color for the store.  Color is so important.  I brought a panel of people in to help me decide.

Not only do I want my style and brand to come thru, I want the store to be appealing to a larger population, where styles range widely all across the board in this Midwest region.  I love many styles too, so I'm going to mix it up with Casual & Calm, Stylish-Industrial, Eclectic, Rustic, Classic, and glistening glam touches.

I'll have Studio Board: Inspiration Series #2 tomorrow....Because I just HAD to go with one more color scheme.

Hope your week is going well and don't forget to swing back by for the BIG six day give-away coming up next week!  We've got some that you {especially you, locals}, won't want to miss.

Friday's Eat, Play, LOVE list

Here are some inspiring locals...Eleanor's Cookies. They've been a hit. Last night she received an order for one dozen to be delivered to a ladies book club. Eleanor's inspiration... MISSONI fabrics. We have lots of parties coming up, and I'm also still in the thick of nursery planning. I'm completely drawn to splashes of bold colors, patterns, confetti, flower petals, and mismatched prints right now. This brings me to my dilemma right now... Fabric selections. Do any of you have any favorite fabric sources? I'm open to some new suggestions!

I wish you all could see my sister Millie's house in real life. I go there to grab jolts of colorful happiness {Millie's got a good smattering of great decor ideas} and bits of love from my nieces and nephew, Mabel, Ralph, and Birdie. It's the happiest, most creative place on earth. My pictures don't do it justice, so I'm gonna have to say...more coming up in the next week or so. I promise. {three are pictured here...dollhouse, chalkboard, and the LOVE piano scape}

We're planning on hunkering down for another snow storm today. Sylvie is hooked on vampire weekend music and she requests certain songs be played over and over and over again. I don't mind. She dances cute, and I have several crushes going on with several of those fellas.

Have a fabulous weekend, my dearest ones!

A Mod-Traditional Dining Room by Sharon Taylor Designs

Most American families don't use their dining rooms, but the couple who own this beautiful English home DO... and here's why:

Freshly painted walls, and 'Taylor-Made' touches.
What do you think? My clients are quite pleased with it, and so am I!

This dining room was opened up to a small kitchen. Basically, the door leading into the dining room was small and squatty. It was widened and raised, with all trim and molding made to match all of the original 1920's styled woodwork.

While the widened doorway was a really grand and needed update..the two conjoined rooms were still feeling disjointed and not cohesive at all. The kitchen was already painted this beautiful color of blue {the Brit husband's fave oceanic color}, and the dining room had butter yellow walls and yellowish curtains. I convinced them that they needed to "be-Out-with" the yellow and bring on the same vibrant blue as the kitchen. I knew that this would happily marry the two rooms together and give the space one large, sweeping-room effect. {Unfortunately, I have no photos of the kitchen to share yet...but will soon.}

This mod-traditional project is pretty much right in line w/the way this middle aged couple live. They are madly in love after 15 years of marriage and whenever I visit them for their bedroom makeover, the husband is usually cooking dinner on their viking range, the table is set w/lit candles, fresh flowers...and then she arrives home from work with a "Hi, honey I'm home." and a smooch. They have their long dinner chat together and then they take their fast paced nightly walk...arm in arm. {Mod, yet traditional living and very sweet}

The drapes and chandelier are from West Elm. Flowers by Janet Pearson, The Orchid Lady. Black Chair Slipcovers designed by me. We used the chairs they already owned...but they were needing some serious style makeovers since being purchased in the 80's. I had them re-dressed in some classy custom made slipcovers using wholesale heavy duty black denim. The dining table is an antique and the wings on the sides fold down. It seats six comfortably, but could also be used as a credenza or sofa table as well. The rug was found at Tuesday Morning.
