...More Canopy Love

The same day I had the nursery pelmet/canopy installation, I popped over to Tobi Fairley's blog.

Tobi is an amazing designer I've been following for a year now. She's based in Little Rock Arkansas. Anyway, back to what I was saying about popping onto her blog that day...I was so happy to discover all these beautiful gems that she had posted on her Day 24 Things She Loves. I can't decide which one I like the best. What about you?

Images from Phoebe Howard, Kelly Wearstler, Mary McDonald, Katie Ridder, Palmer Weiss, and Windsor Smith {Some of my all time fave designers} Hope you all have a dandy weekend!

I will be working both days this weekend. Another portion of the installation @ the bebe nursery on Saturday, and then a pink baby shower on Sunday {in the panoramic wallpaper dining room of my client's}.

Canopy Love

I haven't posted in a while. I've been so busy that I can't keep up with basic e-mails and phone calls.

Here's an update on my client's bebe nursery. It's finally starting to come together. She's due any day, and we still have yet to put the finishing touches in place. The pelmet/Canopy turned out exactly as I imagined it to be. The whole installation took two hours to set firmly in place. I still need to steam press some of the wrinkles out.

I've been anxious to show you this amazing chandelier that my friend, Joann, an antique dealer, discovered at an estate sale in K.C. a couple of years ago. How do you like it against the kilkenney green striped ceiling and lemon twist canopy?

I'll be posting another post today as well. We've got a special capri blue slip covered {thrift store} rocker that's due to be finished tomorrow. Can't wait to see this sweet mom-to-be rocking her sweet little one in it soon and very soon.

I hope you are having a wonderful week! I'll be back later today with a special update.

Twitter.Com/ST_Designs...

I've been a'twitter. Follow me as I go 'propping'. I just posted a pair of medical cabinets I found thrifting, and I need help deciding what finish to give them. Lacquer {Couture} or Sandblasted {Zinc industrial}?? What do you think?

I added a skeletal birdie {tweet fella} to my sidebar... hinting at my current infatuation with anatomical/industrial things...it might also be hinting at my current {cold} state of being. I feel a little less than lively and am achy to the bones with the bitter cold weather that will not subside! Mr. Will just finished Winter's Bone, a novel by local Ozarkian, Daniel Woodrell, and loved it. It's all the buzz about town... and New York Times. Speaking of NY, and bone chilling {anatomical loves}. I just LOVE the EVOLUTION store there. It wouldn't be fair, though, if I didn't name my West Coast fave...OBSOLETE.

East, West, and Midwest...all under bone chilling snows and wind advisories...just waiting to be shoveled {or dissected} at this very moment. Well, dear ones...hope you stay warm!

Presidents Day/New Bed Day

What has President's Day become? Mattress Sale Day. Will and I have decided to upgrade our full size bed to a king size bed. I guess that means we'll have to upgrade the bedding too. It's got me dreaming of all the possibilities. I'd love to add a little chevron zig zag to my life {image via apartment therapy}.

George and Abe, pictured here, were wonderful to work with last fall... for a little photo shoot that I stylized. {Sesha Shannon of Convey Studio Photography}

Sweet Sixteen Valentine

I realize you're probably wondering when I'm going to retire the paper disc and ruffly party posts....but this one is just too cute to resist. I have to tell you, It is ALWAYS a treat to be able to do a little stylization/collaboration with the talented Sesha Shannon of Convey Studio Photography.

For this Sweet Sixteen Valentine Shoot, Sesha found this beautiful vintage dress about a year ago. We started brainstorming this shoot about a year ago, too. Now I'm wondering WHY it took us a year to make confetti strands and paper discs???!! Crafting with Sesha, Katie, and Lisa Cat was real fun, but when I saw the images that Sesha had captured...I was pleased as California punch. What do you all think of the shoot? Which one is your favorite?

Lynsey, one of my daughter's best friends, fit into the size 0 dress, no prob. She is super sweet and did, in fact, just turn sixteen and looked at her first car just before we drove to the studio for the shoot.

Now, it's almost Eleanor's sweet sixteen. *Sigh. I can't believe it!

Hope you all have a lovely Valentines Day weekend. Plans, do you have plans? Do tell.
I'm hoping something lovely falls from the sky. NOT snow.

Vintage Circus Train Bebe Shower by Sharon Taylor Designs

Venue: Fedora Social House {Historic pub in downtown Sprinfield specializing in cocktails and fondues}

Flowers: The Nest {anemone, hypericum, wildflowers, gooseneck, green button mums, carnations}

Photography:

Cupcakes: Amycakes

Other Sweets: Champagne, Fruit Punch w/Sorbet, Dippers w/assorted Fondues.

Highlights: The dessert/gift bar was designed w/the baby's nursery in mind. For the engine of the circus train {so to speak}...The pram was found at a local thrift store. It was in good shape when found, but needed some dressing up. The avocado green paint was chipping. So, Will and I fixed it up by giving it a high gloss black lacquer. Rhinestones were added to the wheels.
It's over one hundred years old and is a Heywood Wakefield, which means it will never lose it's value. The mom to be will use this in the nursery to store all of the baby's diapers next to the baby changing station, that is currently being upcycled.

The circus train is actually a side table that I found at Hobby Lobby. I thought it's lines looked like a caged circus train. Vintage animals were dressed up to come along to this event. They will be my gift to the mom to be. I hope she likes them.

The hippo box is a commissioned art piece made by my sister. The letter "H" will be the first initial of the sweet bebe. Two more darling art boxes have been created for the nursery as well...."B", and "C".

Cupcake toppers: Designed by my daughter, Eleanor Taylor. She was my wonderful assistant that day. Thank you Elle!!

Other Details: Delicious cookies, made by the sister-in-law, Annie, were tied to the circus train as an added twist to the standard dessert bar...the animals and guests gobbled them up in short order! A candy station was set up using an old $5 bookshelf that I painted a crisp white. Paper discs were made from green craft paper found at IPA.

This shower was a lot of fun, but I cannot wait to show you the nursery that is almost finished!

The Emersonmade Giveaway Recipient is Emily B, of Frenchie and Flea...check out her darling blog!! I LOVE it! Thanks to everyone else for participating!

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Friday's Play List: Bits of Red

Happy Friday, dearest ones! For all you new followers who just joined me...Thanks for having a seat on my sofa! This might call for bringing in more sofas!! Which, reminds me, of the last post I talked about my own sofa collection, that's getting a little out of hand. My aunt Debbie, has the same problem of collecting sofas. She has ten children and just as many fun and funky sofas. She's named every one of them. Some that come to mind, "Old Yeller", "Frosted Mini Wheat", "Cookie Monster", that sort of thing. Isn't that kinda funny? Now, all the rest of my family, has taken inspiration from her. Sofas in the Hood..."Cat's Tongue", "Raisinette", "Black Licorice"...anyway, that might be another blog post. I'd love to hear more fun names if you have any? Aren't sofas just like a best friend? They have to be comfy and stylish.

I just love, love, love this sassy room with the red carpet! {image via coco and kelley}The room is a brave mix of classic, vintage, and mod. If you look closely, you can see the beautiful chinoiserie wall paper. And LOVE the brass sconces...{Brass is back, folks!} It adds a nice warm, yet elegant look to the room.
Moving on...the bike image is from Canadian, Tommy Ton of Jak & Jill. His muse is for Vogue is Tavi, {the blog phenomenon}. image via sogni sorrisi, {my new blog crush}.

Lastly, the last image is from one of my photo shoots that I stylized last year. {photography by sesha shannon of convey studio photography}

I'm meeting with two brides today and then hanging with the fam this weekend at some indoor soccer games. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend...and DON't forget the Emersonmade giveaway! You have til Sunday night to enter! Thanks for all your tweets and links, dearest ones!!

I will probably do a weekend post, so please visit!
