Scenes from the Old and New House

I hope you were able to spend some time outside over the weekend with this beautiful weather we've been having.

I took my sketch pad outside with me while the baby napped and drew up some kitchen plans for the new house.  See the speckled stuff on the sketch?  Well, that's Bubs's doing.  Bubs woke up while I was mid sketch and, as most times when I'm concentrating on other things, he usually gets into stuff.  Often times, while I'm having he coffee on the porch, he can't stay away from a particular potted plant. He loves to run his fingers thru the dry potting soil.  He loves to scatter it too.  While I continued sketching, he became filthy, the porch became filthy and he made the sketch filthy too.  So, there you have it, a sketch with real grit.  Haha!

This is what we're looking at right now in the kitchen.  Notice the plunger on the floor?  That's bubs's favorite toy.  Maybe he'll be a plumber!

This is the fish pond in our new back yard.  You can't tell from the picture, but it's actually a kidney shape.  I want it to be a rounded circle pond instead.  Will added the urn over the weekend. He plugged the fountain into it, and on his first try, he got it going!  It has a nice trickle sound with the water that gurgles and spills over the top.

The babies had so much fun with their cousin, Graham, who lives next door at our current 'old' house.   We will sure miss seeing and playing with him everyday.

What a golden weekend!  Wishing you golden skies and golden opportunities this week!

Mr. Revolutionary is Cleaning House

HI All and Happy Fall!  The weather is grand, no?  Golly-gee, it's been so pretty outside these last few weeks.

Here on the home front, we've cleaned out a lot of stuff {furniture, junk, and undone projects that are haunting and taunting us}.  All in an effort to cleanse.  Also, to gear up for a hefty yard sale.  Mr. Revolutionary {Will} has us running a tighter ship of "purging what we don't use".  It's a good thing!

We've really pared down on all holiday decor too. For the last few years, we've been going towards a more minimal "Organic Grey/Charcoal" look that can easily be dressed up with a glam touch/twist. I'm loving this less is more approach... but still can't resist a little razzle-dazzle, shiny, and just one pop of color!

Here are some inspirations I am falling hard for:

Mirrored Walls or Mirrored Anything!
Pinatas for Any Old Occasion!
Dolled up Place Settings

Being Nice is Easy...being KIND is much more!

I hope you are all having a great week!

That's it for now...  I will try to share some projects that we have going in our kettle.  Soon, and very soon, I hope!

Fall Must-Haves: Book-Nook, Sofa, & Tights

Do you have a good book you're reading? Do share. It's cold and rainy and I would love to get lost in my very own little book-nook with a real good book. The bookshelves are genuinely fake (tromp l'oeil) by artist Deborah Bowness (decor amor) The sofa--Is it not pure classic elegance?! (also found on decor amor)

I just purchased tights for Sylvie, Eleanor, and myself. black, black and black. (Willow Ships image).

Have a sweet Thursday.

Sharon Taylor Designs Featured On Style Me Pretty!!!

Good news yesterday had me putting an extra hard spin move on my living, dining, and kitchen chandeliers. At least 1/2 an inch of dust and dirt came flying down off of the crystals after I received an e-mail from the lovely Abby Larson, of Style Me Pretty, asking if she could publish my designs today!

Cheers to my people (also to Will's inspiration and Janae Hardy photography)who made this happen!

I couldn't be any more tickled-with-caramel than this. Style Me Pretty is the parent of wedding style and positively my most favorite wedding site ever!!

Check out today's feature and let me know what you think...and Cheers to Trees!

I'll post instructions to this project a bit later after the dust settles here and all the kids get situated with full bellies.
