COME ON!

Spring cannot get here soon enough! Baby is STILL mending.  I don't remember a time where my littles were sick this much and for this long.  I strongly believe it's because they are subjected to much more stuff when they go to preschool.   Preschool is a good thing, but the sickness it breeds is not.  Just as I was sending Sylvia off to school this morning, she got sick, and started crying when I told her she couldn't go to school.  Haha.  {A real good indicator of how much they have enjoyed being cooped up with me for the last few days!}  Any of you moms out there relate?

I really hope this means our spring and summer will be healthier and more productive.   I have so many projects and deadlines waiting on me and I'm anxious to show off some really cool things that we have going.

That said, we are we are still seeking internships.  Please send email and resumes to sharontaylordesigns@yahoo.com

Sorry for the boring, sickness posts you've heard over and over.  I hope you all are feeling well and happy to see the sunshine as much as I am today!

To see my latest kitchen board for a client, go here:  olioboard.com/boards/181796-d-s-kitchen.  It's going to be a bright and cheerful change up from what it once was.   Think marble countertops, subway tile, all white cabinets, colorful furnishings, all new appliances, apron front sink, and gold accents.

Fist Pump

I've notice that designers are enamored with the Pedro Friedeberg Chair.  Who has one?  Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler, and now, me.  Except mine aren't solid-gold-chic. They are the "Wanna-be-Pedro's" {knock-offs} to be used in Boca Mocha. When I'm done with mine, these chairs will be joining all the cool people.

{Ever seen the cool people dance with their hands pushing up and down?  That's what these chairs look like...Cool dancers, fist pumpers, and really impressive, fabulous hand-shakers.}

Here's one of Jonathan Adler's client's homes with a pair.

More golden goodness in Kelly Wearstler's home office, featured in her newer book, HUE {which I sell at the store.

In need of a good manicure and hand massage.
I'll be priming it and then using a high gloss brush-on gold from Benjamin Moore.

So excited to share these DIY's and a few more that I've got going to the shop.

Hope you're staying cool, with this debilitating heat were having here.  If I had it my way, I'd be near some cold water today....Splashing away to a wildly wet Wednesday.

Doors, Bells, and Whistles!

It's Monday already! I have a story or two for you, but before I get to that, here's what fun I had yesterday: We had a mini-get-away with the whole fam {me, Will, Eleanor, Louis, Charlie, and Syl} yesterday.

Now that the older kids are teens and pre-teens, it's a rare thing to have all the kids loaded into the van for a full day of hanging together. They usually have their own social agendas. We went down South to an outlet mall and bought school clothes for all the kids. School is not far off. I can't believe how fast the summer has flown. Can you?

Well...let me tell you what we booted out the door, over the weekend. It was a wild Friday. Was there a full moon, or something???! We shook out a few naysayers, robbers, and some designer-project glitches!!! Friday started out great, with an amazing feature we had on Style Me Pretty, but by 5 o'clock Friday, I was dealing with movers who didn't show up to pick up a 13 foot counter top {that seriously HAD to be out that day. Period.} and then my child had issues with a mean naysayer. And then, come Saturday morning, my brother's family, who lives next door to us, was robbed! Everyone is fine, thank goodness! They took all electronics, and tried, unsuccessfully, to rip their large flat screen out of the wall.

By Sunday, we needed a REAL good/God day. Thank goodness for the strong likelihood of hard days/things being followed by really amazing days/things. I read a cute quote just yesterday..."Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present."

And then, here's a really good one I found for my son and naysayer {and heck, everyone!}..."One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar." ~Helen Keller

How's that quote for a jump start to your week? I'm hoping a cup of coffee and that quote will at least get me to the grocery store.

Project Notes: Two BIGGIE chandeliers have been painted in a hard coat industrial paint, and will be hung this week!! Cannot wait to show you some pics!

Choosing a door this week {Theft Proof fully in mind}. How do you like a painted door? I think they are so welcoming and cheery! Did you know Lowes carries this Dorothy Draper styled door???!! {pictured at top} I love it. Of course, I'd paint it a color, and put a snazzy door knob in the middle of the routered circle.

Final decisions made on custom made drapes for the dressing room. Love the oppulence of puddled drapes.

That's about it. And if you've made it thru this whole post without falling asleep, I'm really feeling happy!

Have a GREAT week, everyone!

Under Construction/New Ownership: Jellybeans

With a little over a month til opening, here's where we're at on the new construction for "Jellybeans" {a baby/kids clothing store}.

New owner, Meghan Chambers, asked me to step up to the plate for this design project. Thank you, Meghan!

Found this cool shelf yesterday while out flea marketing. It's from Riverside Inn. It held the wine there. Do you love that it will gain new life in a baby/kid shop? I do!!

I probably won't be posting pics until after opening. So, wish me luck, as we're diving in! And be sure to tell all moms, kiddos and babies out there, that they are in for a jellybean of a treat.

An Argentinian Dining Set to Cry For by Sharon Taylor Designs

A real quick post today...I'm off to pick up some emerald green rail-roaded drapes today from the work room. So excited to use them for an interior shoot today in a cobalt blue dining room.

Here at the end of the busiest year I've had in the business...I'm setting aside time to try to have ten interior rooms professionally photographed. These are all my projects that have not been shared yet. So, yes, all my 'talk' will now be a for real thing . My good friend, Sesha Shannon of Convey Studio Photography is going to be giving them life by capturing them at their best. I am nervous, anxious and excited all at the same time. I hope it all delivers.

Shout Out: I have been so very fortunate to have some of the best people, friends, family and photographers that have been willing to take a chance on me. Thank you!!

It's been a wild ride since I stepped foot into this thing called a design career three years ago, but I am officially hooked on it! Ups and downs along the way have made me stronger, and I have truly enjoyed the lessons learned on each project I've taken on. Many, many lessons learned that I hope to pass on to readers and viewers.

So here is a set of chairs that I found a flea market for my sister's dining room. They gave me ugly eyes when I first found them. {Think yucky Glossified dark wood finish from the seventies with a 1980's rosette styled fabric}...wish I had the 'befores'!

I gave them a lacquered high gloss black finish and white leather upholstery + nickel tacks and VOila, I WANT! Do you like? Also, I found the amazing Czechoslovakian chandelier for her as well.

Gotta run and get my stylizing game on for the shoots!
