BIG LOVE

You've heard me touch on 'thoughtfully done remodel/restoration' in some of our recent home reno posts, but Barry Darr Dixon {one of my biggest design idols} recently brought the point home very simply and eloquently at Design Camp. "As a designer you have two clients.  The client and the home {building}."  Pretty simple, huh?  "Good, professional designers and contractors SHOULD value the home and it's architecture."

It's no secret that Will and I LOVE architecture and it's at the core of why we even fell in love.  We carry a big heart for that into every project, and I believe it really raises the value of what we do.

Pickwick House is a full service design/build company in the heart of the Midwest!  {Springfield, Missouri's Rountree Neighborhood}.  We handle all aspects of residential renovations from small to large projects and are available for full service and consultation design, and/or stylizing from East to West Coast.  Call or email us today.  We may be on location, but we'll get back to you in no time.

ON THE GO!

My marketing intern, Emily, set up an app on my iPhone for blogging from the phone. She's says that I have no excuse not to blog now. Haha! So I'm giving it a try today.

Updates: a little overwhelmed with things lately. (Between clients and our homes and sick babies.)

But we are seeing plans for kitchen finalized this week, along with fence posts being placed.

Here's a fast little sketch up that Will requested for our 8 ft gate clearance. We need it to be that wide to allow access with our riding lawn mowers and golf cart. The back portion of our property is wide open to the street. We need some security there but I'm not a fan of the look of a privacy fence. More about that tomorrow. Time to test out whether this on-the-go blogging really works. For some reason it won't let me plug the picture where I want it.

Hope you are liking these updates.

Welcome

Welcome back to the blog. In case you hadn't noticed, I took a long break from the blog over the summer.  I'm back in full swing now and am committed to sharing more of the projects we've been busy working on over the summer.  So, welcome.  And Thank YOU for your support and for visiting!

The front of the house was painted this week!  What do you think?  It's a Benjamin Moore paint called Dragon Breath.  {Funny name, I know...hehe} I've used this color before and love it.  It looks sort of black here in the photo, but it's definitely more of a brown.   Will did such a nice job cutting in on the molding, don't you think?

Okay, here's my question for you.  What color do we paint the front door?  We initially were thinking red, but now I'm not so sure.  The tile color might conflict.  Thoughts/suggestions welcome.
